The ABC's of me!

I'm new to blogging and am anxious to get started.  I've spent the past month or so following a few fantastic blogs and am unsure how I'll be able to compare!! As a first year teacher, I can't say thank you enough for all of the ideas you share with us.

With that said, here is a little bit about me.  I hope to begin sharing more of my thoughts and ideas with you soon!

The ABCs of me:

A- Age: 24

B-Bed size: Queen

C-Chore you hate: I despise cleaning the bathroom.... yuck!!

D-Dogs: Technically no, but I claim my boyfriends dogs because I'm in L-O-V-E with them! Wrigley (Boxer) and Luca (English Mastiff).  Two BIG but overly loving cuddle bugs who think they're the size of a toy poodle :)

E-Essential to start your day: 3 hits of the snooze button (sad to say!).  I wish I was a morning person.  Once I'm up it's an Odwalla Mango Tango & Banana.  I'm crabby without them.

F-Favorite color: Green

G-Gold or silver: GOLD!

H-Height: 5'3

I-Instruments you play: I don't play anymore but I used to play the violin.

J-Job title: First year Kindergarten Teacher... First Grade, here I come!  I love my babies but I'm looking for a  little more independence.  I also love the endless options for writing in First Grade.  To say the least... I can't wait to see what the future holds.

K-kids: None at the moment but can't wait for the day I become a Mommy!

L-Live: Indiana

M-My mom's name: Renee

N- Nicknames: Cal to my friends, Cal-Bal to my one and only

O-Overnight hospital stay: When I was 17 I had my tonsils taken out... ouch!

P-Pet peeve: Eating w/ mouth open... it's so disgusting!

Q-Quote from a movie: "The right person will always think the sun shines out your ass." -- Juno

R-Right/lefty: Right

S- Siblings: One older sister, Danielle, who I don't see enough of.  At least I have a good vacation spot :)  -- Sunny California! (Santa Monica)

T-Time you wake up: First alarm is set for 5:45 and I usually crawl out of bed by 6:30.  I'm such a crabby morning person :(  I'm slowly working on getting up at 5 and going to the before school rather than after... we'll see if I stick to it!

U-Underwear: Cheeky's are my favorite.

V-Veggies you dislike: I loveee vegetables but I have a hard time stomaching brussel sprouts.

W-What makes you run late: Getting ready... it's inevitable for me!  I take way to long in the bathroom :)

X-X-rays you've had: Ankle... fractured growth plate in middle school.

Y-Yummy food you make: Cooking is a passion of mine.  (And I must say I'm pretty darn good at it!)  If I wasn't a teacher and didn't adore my job, I would be off at culinary school.  I also love to bake.  I don't like sweets and don't eat them but I love to make them for others.

Z-Zoo animal: Monkey's are my favorite with elephants close behind!

Just a thought...

I've come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element in the classroom. It's my personal approach that creates the climate. It's my daily mood that makes the weather. As a teacher, I possess tremendous power to make a student's life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated and a student humanized or de-humanized.   Haim Ginott
